Car horns honk in a certain key?

The vast majority of American cars honk in the key of F.

Photo from here.
Isn't that random? I wonder if people sit there and think "Humm.. I wonder how the car horn should sound?... Maybe a E? No, that's too low.. How about an F?" Seems rather strange to me! Haha. I'm sure it must be something to do with what note sounds harshest on your ears, because they want you to react to it and not just sit there and ignore it. It's just like a fire alarm in that sense, they are really load and penetrating so that there is no way you couldn't hear it! (Well, that's the case for all the fire alarms I've heard anyway!)
And it does make sense for car horns to be in the same key, cause otherwise it would be hard to tell if it was a car horn or something else.. The brain probably associates F as a warning in America if you've heard lots of car horns.. It's weird to think about, but also pretty darn cool ;)

Sorry I've been honking on a bit, I'll leave you in peace. ;)

Stamps have calories?

Every time you lick a stamp you consume 1/10th of a calorie.

Image from here.

I found this fact really weird to think about.. So that's 1 calorie for licking 10 stamps, and you're not even eating anything! So if you licked 100 stamps that's 10 calories.. (I know the maths is simple, but I'm #justsaying) Still, that's such a tiny number of calories it really won't make any difference to anyone, so it is a completely pointless fact (that's what I love about it!) And to be honest, you probably burn off at least 1/10th of a calorie by lifting the stamp to your tongue, licking it and sticking it on the envelope.. Not to mention the writing on the envelope as well.. So all in all, you probably don't burn many calories and you don't consume many either but it kind of balances out.. Your best bet is to not think about the calories when writing a birthday card. That's the best option. ;)

Is the UK baked beans obsessed?!

The UK consumes more baked beans than the rest of the world combined.

Image from here.
Say whatt?! Think how tiny the UK is compared to somewhere like China let's say, and imagine us eating more baked beans than them. Now imagine how MASSIVE the WHOLE WORLD is.. And we eat more baked beans than them!

Yes, if you think about it logically it's because in many other countries people don't really eat baked beans, and they probably aren't even available to buy in some countries, but it still sounds like the UK eat an awful lot of beans... Mind you, you can eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner - so as far as food goes it's quite versatile and you can eat it whenever! Plus let's not forget about the classic English breakfast we're so famous for.. Where would that leave that if we didn't eat baked beans?

Sorry I've bean on a bit of a pointless ramble (witty joke, I know)

The Beastly Buffalo?

A buffalo's tongue is so strong that it can remove a whole layer of human skin off with just one lick.

This is because their tongues are very rough so that when they chew the coarse leaves they can rip them apart with ease, and their tongues are also very strong as they use them to get the leaves off the bushes to eat. They also need their rough tongues to strip down branches for eating. A big part of their food digestion starts in their mouth... So never underestimate the strength of the buffalo- in their bodies and horns as well as in their mouths!
